Reflections |
Some
thoughts from Terry & Sherrie about their travels.
"We continue to be
amazed by, and most grateful for, the lessons we learn
through travel ..."

"FASCINATING, ENERGETIC, SURPRISING, diversified, friendly and
humbling. It is not possible to see Cuba without feeling it."
|
Travel from Vinales in the north-west
through Havana,
Santa Clara, Trinidad,
Camaguey,
Santiago de Cuba to Baracoa on
the south-east coast.
|
|
|
"So many sights to see ~ from ancient Damascus, through Aleppo
and Hamah to the Roman ruins in Palmyra ~ but
the most cherished memories
are of the Syrian people ...
friendly, outgoing and so hospitable."
|
Travel from Damascus in the south-west,
north to Aleppo, to Palmyra
in central Syria and then to Hamah.

|
 |
Not just ancient edifices; within Egypt throbs differing
cultures ... and for the traveler
the glimpse is invigorating.
|
| Travel from Cairo
and Giza in the north to Aswan
and Abu Simbel in the south., sail down
the Nile on a felucca, visiting
Edfu and Luxor then over to
the Sinai Pennisula to relax on the Red Sea and
climb Mount Sainai. |
|
|
Archeological footprints have crossed the sands of
Jordan since antiquity. For the traveler, placing
their own steps upon these ancient lands is to recognize
our generation is but a brief gust of wind in a world
which will carry on in spite of us; a fact which is both
humbling and reassuring. |
| Travel from Al Aqabah
in the South on the Red Sea northward
through Wadi Rum, Petra,
Kerak, a dip in the Dead Sea
and then on to Amman and Jerash. |

East meets West ...
peaceful and optimistic ...
for the present. |
Travel Tales spent a full day walking in Beirut
and share their experiences in this video. |

|
Tunisia offers tourists sandy beaches with jasmine

| Any fears we had about
travelling in Africa vanished in anticipation of
what we were going to encounter around the next
bend. |
It is Southern Africa to be more precise. Two months.
Terry, Sherrie and Michael begin their African adventures in
Kenya and Tanzania where Terry and Michael climb
Mount Kilimanjaro. Continue
with Terry & Sherrie as they travel to
South Africa, Mozambique,
Swaziland, Lesotho,
Namibia, Botswana,
Zambia and back to Tanzania;
completing their journey on Zanzibar.

|
"The challenge of our adventure becomes increasingly
apparent ... not everyone
makes it to the summit." |
|
Join Terry and Michael for six days as they attempt
to climb Africa's tallest mountain.
Between
video, journal writings and great photos you can begin to imagine the
challenges they faced
and the beauty they saw. |

Independent travel is possible ...
and rewarded with memories to last a lifetime.

From the Forbidden City,
Tiananmen Square, the Great
Wall, Hanging Monastery, Yungang
Caves and the Terracotta Warriors;

Rocky Mountain High
Ride along with Terry & Sherrie
on a
Rocky Mountain High
as they drive through Idaho and toured The Old Mission;
strolled through Helena, capital of Montana, watched buffalo
doing what comes naturally in Yellowstone Park, Wyoming; ride the
rails of the Silverton Durango train in Colorado; marveled at
hoodoos and natural arches in Utah; watched the All-American Nugget
Sheep Show at a casino in Nevada; and lapped up the beauty of
the Columbia River Gorge on the border of Oregon and
Washington.

Pictou
Island,
Nova Scotia
Terry, Sherrie and Ted spent two wonderful
weeks with Bryan, Tammie, Tavis and Tyler on Pictou
Island. Remembrances of family time
together on this tiny (6 miles long, 2 miles wide) island off the coast of
Nova Scotia are so vivid ... so cherished. Recommend it
to others? Absolutely!

| Spring Fling |
| to France, Italy, Switzerland &
England |
|
Terry, Sherrie and Ted on a
Spring
Fling
in France and
Italy with a dip into
Switzerland and a week in the Cotswold area of
England.
They had a great
time in cities like Paris and Firenze and many smaller villages
such as Civita, Varenna and
Gimmelwald; and seemingly stepped back in time to 79AD
with a visit to Pompeii. So many wonderful people, so many beautiful
places; it would be hard to pick favorites. |
|
|
Many people dream of taking their car out on the road
with no plan and driving to see where they go. Terry, Sherrie and Ted did
just that and call it their
North American Drive which took them across
Canada (west to east) including an outstanding time in
Newfoundland; then down the East Coast across, and
through, the cotton fields of the southern states; up
through Nevada (with a stop in Las Vegas) and
Utah.
The trip took them three and a half months through eight provinces and
thirty-four states and put 26,500 km on the car.

New
Zealand &
Rarotonga |
If you haven't been
here before and enjoy reading travel journals, you may enjoy looking
back to Terry, Sherrie and Ted's trip to New
Zealand and
Rarotonga
in the Cook Islands.
It was a trip which
reminded them of the many advantages of independent
travel and to keep "stepping-out-of-the-comfort box". By doing so they were able to experience
out of-the-way places,
meet gracious people and witness a chief being
invested. No, not a tourist pageant ... the real thing. |
|
Ted has been
travelling since 2003. You will find him among the
pages of the travels above. He also has his own page
Travels with Ted.
