Hello,
Gavin, from your phone support team, gave me the file number of
3899165 and asked me to send some samples of difficulty we are
having with our new
PowerShot SX200is
The problem is a "white cloud" upper left from
centre. It is not on all photographs. It started
as a small black dot ... could Photoshop out. The black dot became
larger. Now white cloud.
IMG_6387 Shows white cloud clearly. I do not use
flash except for rare occasions when I manually turn it on. This photo
was taken from a boat with people standing on wharf ... no dust.
IMG_5862 shows a photo of man sleeping ... no problem
... no black dot or white cloud; but a moment later I took video ...
MIV_5863
where you can see the larger black dot (too large to attach with
this email so I have embedded on a webpage at
http://www.bryan-thorne.com/TEMP-FILES/Canon%20file%203899165.htm ).
I mentioned my concerns to my cousin (have cc on this email), who had
bought her Canon PowerShot SX200is on my recommendation. She told
me she too was getting a white dot (not on every photograph) and sent me
this sample ... IMG_0050[1]. Her white spot is in a
similar position but a very definite circle.
We are leaving on a trip in September and I would prefer not to take
this problem with us as travel photos are a one shot opportunity. I did
not have this problem with our Nikon cameras but was ready to switch to
Canon with the thought of stepping up through the Canon line. A tough
start but hoping it is only a glitch with some units in this model;
other than this problem, happy with PowerShot SX200is.
The camera is still under warranty (as is my cousin's). Please advise.
